Common questions
How much do I really need for a down payment?
Less than many people think. FHA loans allow as little as 3.5% down for qualifying borrowers, and some conventional programs allow 3%. Closing costs are separate, and assistance programs can sometimes help with both.
Is FHA only for first-time buyers?
No. FHA loans are open to repeat buyers too. They are popular with first-time buyers because the credit and down payment guidelines are more flexible.
How long does pre-approval take?
Usually a day or two once your documents are in. You'll get a letter you can share with your agent and sellers.
